Where's the trust?

Gentlemen, I've thought long and hard about this topic and I want what you are about to read to stick with you for as long as you are a member of the NSHP.
In all my years as a manager I have been able to make trades with anyone, anytime, anywhere and with relative ease. I can say that I have made great trades and I have made bad trades. Regardless of the outcome of a deal, the process is always entertaining. I enjoy trading. Its an aspect of the pool that I truely enjoy and I will never stop wheelin' and dealin'.
I consider myself a straight shooter when it comes to making an offer. I will always review the team of the manager that I am going to make an offer to. I look for what I think they might need and formulate a trade from that. I find that sometimes the deal is taken but mostly turned down. I think that most managers think that if a manager is offering up a player then that player must not be good or he wouldn't offer him up. And some of that is true otherwise why trade him. Well, generally when I make an offer I target the best player available and then form the offer in a way that compensates the manager. I don't ever try to "rape" a manager of his players. Those days are gone thanks to the information we are all privy to. All of the managers are well educated and more trade savvy than ever.
I just made a trade with Alfred for James van Riesmdyk and it left me in a position where I had to move a main team forward via trade or waive. So I attempted to deal one of two players. Phoenix forward Radim Vrbata and Florida winger Tomas Fleischmann. Vrbata is coming off a career high 35 goal season and Fleischmann potted a respectable 27. Vrbata is a young 31 years old and Tomas is 28.
If owned by any other manager in the league I feel they could start on anyones team. However, trying to trade them proved to be a task.
I can kind of understand why a manager would hesitate to make a deal for these guys. But what confuses me is that I had offers for them last season that I turned down. I explained the reasons why I needed to trade away the players but I don't think anyone believed me. I had to make room for JVR. I even offered up Dustin Brown. Not that Brown is a 50 goal man or anything but could surely start on anyones team. I just want you all to know that when I come calling to make a trade, I'm not planning to pull one over on you. I trade in good faith. I trade fairly and honestly. I was able to trade Vrbata to Omar for a 2nd rnd pick which in my eyes was way too cheap a price to pay for him. But there were no takers. It felt like there was no trust. Like I was trying to screw you over. I hope that the next time I make you an offer you will have a bit more trust in me that I wont fuck you over. Look at the deal I made with Alf. Grossly overpaid. Maybe even lost the deal but if JVR turns out to be a 40 goal man I think that Alf was more than compensated for his lose.
Just remember that I'm not just in it for the money.

The Ruutu deal part II

So the season has come and gone and we have endured 9 months of NHL lockout. The season is less than 24hrs away and I've just submitted my starting lineup for this 48 game lockout shortened season. My last post was a year and a half ago that described a trade that I made for skilled, under-achieving Tuomo Ruutu.
After finishing the season playing in 72 games and scoring 18 goals for the Canes. It is with great sadness that I report that not only did he not make this seasons starting roster, he was also dropped off the mighty Inferno.
I did however have some good fortune at this years draft. My long time best friend Neil "Hemmish" Frazer surprised me with a text that was offering one Eric Staal. A player that has been owned by Hem for as long as I can remember. Neil has always wanted to get rid of him but could never pull the trigger on a deal. Staal is nortorious for the slow starts and it drove the Everton supporter mad. I'm happy to have him as he is one of the more prolific scorers and franchise players in the league and is still very young at only 28. I hope he can find a consistency that he could not find with Hemmish HC.
If Eric finds his new home one that he's not comfortable with. I can always ship his ass up to Fort Mac!

Good Luck to everyone this season

Trade deadline day

It is 5:30pm on Monday, Mar, 7, 2011 and I have been logged into messenger all day and there
has been limited trade action.

So far, I have made one minor deal with one of my favorite trade partners, Team DC. I sent my 3rd rnd
draft pick to Robbie for one time Inferno player, Carolina forward Tuomo Ruutu.
Ruutu was originally drafted by infamous NSHP Great Ryan Davison aka Bin. I made a bold move for the
Vaanta, Finland finisher by offering up Bos F Glen Murray. I had been the only manager to have ever had
Murray on his team and I was very proud of his consistent contributions and did not want to part with him.
However, he was becoming slightly injury prone and I felt that maybe it was time to move him before his
value started to drop amongst the NSHP brass. So I did a straight up Murray for Ruutu offer that was quickly
snapped up by the savvy Bin. By seasons end it looked as tho I may have dealt for a gem when Ruutu finished
the season with 23 goals in his rookie year of 2003/04. Murray, who had scored 44 goals(career high) for the bears the
previous season finished the 03' season with 32 goals. For the next three seasons, Murray would in fact be
plagued by injuries that would see him play 186 games out of 246 and potting 69 goals. Ruutu would not fair
so well. During the lock out season he opted not to go overseas to play but rather lay on his ass and do nothing
to improve his skill and conditioning. Therefore, resulting in him playing only 15 games in 05/06 and netting only 2
goals thanks to an ailing back from no doubt laying on the couch playing vids all day and night. This reflection that
I am currently going through is making me second guess my decision to give up a 3rd rnd pick for him! But what's
done is done. Truth is, he still has lots of potential playing in Carolina. And at 28 yrs old, he is set for a break out.
So hopefully he can finish strong with a second chance with Team Inferno. And show what it was that I saw in him
8 years ago.
