Trade deadline day
It is 5:30pm on Monday, Mar, 7, 2011 and I have been logged into messenger all day and there
has been limited trade action.
So far, I have made one minor deal with one of my favorite trade partners, Team DC. I sent my 3rd rnd
draft pick to Robbie for one time Inferno player, Carolina forward Tuomo Ruutu.
Ruutu was originally drafted by infamous NSHP Great Ryan Davison aka Bin. I made a bold move for the
Vaanta, Finland finisher by offering up Bos F Glen Murray. I had been the only manager to have ever had
Murray on his team and I was very proud of his consistent contributions and did not want to part with him.
However, he was becoming slightly injury prone and I felt that maybe it was time to move him before his
value started to drop amongst the NSHP brass. So I did a straight up Murray for Ruutu offer that was quickly
snapped up by the savvy Bin. By seasons end it looked as tho I may have dealt for a gem when Ruutu finished
the season with 23 goals in his rookie year of 2003/04. Murray, who had scored 44 goals(career high) for the bears the
previous season finished the 03' season with 32 goals. For the next three seasons, Murray would in fact be
plagued by injuries that would see him play 186 games out of 246 and potting 69 goals. Ruutu would not fair
so well. During the lock out season he opted not to go overseas to play but rather lay on his ass and do nothing
to improve his skill and conditioning. Therefore, resulting in him playing only 15 games in 05/06 and netting only 2
goals thanks to an ailing back from no doubt laying on the couch playing vids all day and night. This reflection that
I am currently going through is making me second guess my decision to give up a 3rd rnd pick for him! But what's
done is done. Truth is, he still has lots of potential playing in Carolina. And at 28 yrs old, he is set for a break out.
So hopefully he can finish strong with a second chance with Team Inferno. And show what it was that I saw in him
8 years ago.
